This park used to be a State Park but now it has been taken over by American Heritage Railways and was designated the Texas State Railroad as the Official Railroad of Texas. It has many special train excursions, our favorite is "the Polar Express". Nestled in the piney woods of East Texas the campgrounds offer the unique experience to stay onsite at a historic railroad. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of one of the steam engines coming down the track! They offer camping and picnicking facilities at both Rusk and Palestine Depots.
